Why so quiet regarding Autavia Isograph?

Hi to all...been reading the forum for sometime. Purchased my first Tag in April...new Carrera Caliber 16 Day Date. Love it. Love the Tag brand. I have a lot of fashion watches over the last 20 years...kept them all (27 of them! Lol). I have recently started the journey of research and buying higher quality watches. So far have the Carrera, Ball Fireman Enterprise, Rolex Air King.

Anyway....I fell in love with the looks of the Autavia Isograph, then after reading about the new hairspring I love the tech of the watch. Mentioned to my AD back in May when the get one I would love to see it live. Well...they got one! Stunning in real life, pics don’t do it justice. So on Friday I pulled out the card and said “I will take it”. (Put a deposit but waiting until Wednesday for the stores semiannual sale and I will get a bigger discount). I will attach pics from the store.

To make a short story long, I have (since May) read everything written and watched all videos on the internet about the Autavia. However, I only really see the new impression/reviews from Baselworld and the month after. Only found one real world, real person video. There are very little discussion on all forums I follow about the watch. Why is there nothing much out there? None of the usually YouTuber reviews, no real person pics, no real meaningful discussion? It’s a fantastic piece that has great initial response after Baselworld and then dropped off the radar.

My AD is a small family owner regional chain with 6 stores. This was the only Autavia they had in the company and the only one they have received. It was at another store out of state and they shipped it to my store for me to see. Are these not really out there in the ADs yet?

Congratulations on a very nice watch!

It was discussed on the forum in the Autavia isograpgh flyback chrono thread just a couple of days ago that Tag is having difficulties delivering the new Autavias and that is probably why we have seen so little of them yet. Once they start hitting the market for real I am sure we will see more and I agree with you that they are amazing watches with very cool tech in the movement.

With the current two production machines (infact chemical reactors) around 150,000 isograph springs per year can be produced that have to be distributed in the current portfolio. it is, after all, only a matter of investing and duplicating those machines.

Maybe they want to ward those watches from transfer to the grey market by restricting the allocation?

I love how simple you make it sound :D

Add to that also that someone needs to modify each movement and have it chronometer certified. I think one should not underestimate the big difference for Tag compared to how they normally just replace the rotor and smack in a standard sellita movement into their watches (excluding the Heuer 01/02 of course).

We also know nothing about how the new carbon hairsprings are behaving, the quality of them and so on. In case Tag realized that it is not functioning as expected it would also make sense why they are postponing production.

Last but not least, all of this is of course just speculation since the only thing we have confirmed is that Tag is having trouble getting these out to the market right now.

If that would be true they are really taking it waaay too far by denying whole markets (incl Scandinavian market where I am) of having any watches out of fear for grey market...

Can confirm that. During my last trip to my native Sweden, I really tried to find the Isograph but without success. What's even stranger is that, to the least of my knowledge, no dealer in the Netherlands have gotten anything either.

I totally get that. I would think they would have had a number if the hair springs ready to go in anticipation of the watch launch. But, I feel very fortunate if this is he case that I have found one!

They may be having trouble getting them out. The only amateur real video of an unboxing I found was digging deep on YouTube. It’s a USA video from June 8. He mentioned his AD told him there were only 40 released to the US as of that time.

That is a very nice box too :)

I have yet to see any real Autavias out there. You are lucky to happen upon one

Love the box! Very classy! I was hoping to see the Blue face/bezel. Was convinced that was the one for me. But this black dial/bezel is gorgeous in person. And will go with any attire. The blue may be more limited. I also was worried I may tire of the blue long term the more I looked at it online. So this is the color for me. Also, now that it’s becoming evident these seem to be hard to come by, I am glad I’m not passing this one up!

In person it does look brown depending on the angle. Also has a green hue based on the angle. I definitely wouldn’t call it black as Tag does. But it is really something to see under the jewelers lights. It plays with the light amazingly. And the raised air brushed finish really pops. The ceramic bezel insert is really sharp. Shines, but not too much. Catches the eye very well. And the strap compliments the face perfectly.

Reading through what I just wrote l, I sound pretty smitten with this piece. Can’t wait to pick it up tomorrow. Waiting for the ADs semiannual sale to start tomorrow will get me an additional 5 percent off. They wouldn’t budge off the 10 percent plus the additional 5 by waiting until tomorrow. I did get 20 percent off of my Carerra from them previously, but since this is the only one they have received and do not have any knowledge of when they are getting another one, they are sticking to the 15 percent off total.

When the first Swatches came out in 1981 they were only available in a segment of the US market as a testmarket. It was not before 1983 until they were available in Switzerland, and probably other markets neither.
I can imagine, that something similar is happening here, before flooding the worlds markets with the new Autavias.

This can be true. Even checking the grey market, there are very few listed and most say shipping in either 4-6 or 6-8 weeks and most on Chrono24 say availability on request. Only a few say available now.

The Autavias really do look a lot better in the flesh, but why does it come in that huge box?
