Just wondering if anyone knows what the most sought after 1000 model is these days.
I have a mint 980.013 N that is currently being serviced by Tag Heuer and should have it back by next week.
    Thanks

Tough question. I reckon my top 5 (in no order)
    - 844/5- automatic 1000 full size (source)

    - 980.613B- Blue dial/ Blue bezel (source)

    - 980.913- Red dial/ bezel (source)

    - 980.113N- Lume dial (source)

Your one is a classic- can't go wrong with the Black/ Black combo.

    Anyone else have any favourites?

Bit unfair of me to use that great photo of the Monnin from Stewart!

    @Calibre11

May I ask why the "B" model for the blue 980.613 opposed to the D, N or L? (I believe it came in D, N and L at least)

I just purchased the 980.613B and I'm delighted you mentioned that opposed to another model.

Hi Richard- the last letter doesn't indicate the dial colour (unlike the 1970s Heuer codes)- they designate changes to the case and/ or movements. I'll try and dig up the differences, but that's what they relate to

Right, I was wondering what minor differences between the B, D and N made you choose B. Whatever you find, please let me know and thanks!

Some models were aavailable with all three case designations- but the blue was only in production for a short period of time, and so there was only one blue-dial model that I'm aware of- 980.613B

Gotcha. Do you know why some models have "1000" on the dial and others do not? And also, would you happen to know what year this watch was manufactured?

Yes, just a running change made over the years.

I would have to go with the Monnin on the most sought after, they are the Genesis of Heuer divers after all.

After that I'd say any of the other 844s (though you could include the Monnin in the same category).

I love the variants and colors other than the normal black on black (though you've got to have a black on black ). The night divers and Pvd versions are some of my favorites. Finding the very elusive mint Pvd example is equivalent to trapping Bigfoot so the hunt is part of the fun! (Olive Pvd pictured was sold some time ago but since they don't show up often I wanted to show you guys a mint one)

Have fun out there guys and gals.

I'd go with the 980.113B although I'm biased because I've got one. Got to say I do like the black one above.

It would have to be the orignal 844 case, 24hour dial, cathedral hands with the FE movement.

I really do love that watch case shape and how the crown guards wrap around the sides of the crown.

I reckon if they reproduced it, even in a short run, they'd be the proverbial hot-cakes.

More specifically, are the models without the "1000" printed on the dial later or earlier manufactured? Thanks!

They are more in the middle. Heuer added the 1000 after some time in production and then removed it before Tag ended production
