Lots to catch up on... including a 'Buying Experience' a 'Not Buying Experience' and my take on TAG Heuer prices, plus lots of 'On the Wrist' action and plenty of videos too...

I think a 38mm aquaracer quartz will look tiny on you. I have fairly small wrists and I think this is a 39mm:

Yes, I thought that too.... but that WAF1120 looked okay and my Kiriums are 37mm and they looks okay. But the WN1153 37mm definitely looked too small... it's very confusing! I should have measured the WAF1120 while I had it, because every time I find one it has a different measurement, but it's either 38mm, 38.4mm or 39mm.

Time for another update, though judging by my hits most of you are probably reading my blog now.... ??? Still, since my huge post about my trip to Switzerland has pushed everything else of the front page it won't hurt to promote a bit, the article on 'size' is worth a look if only for the wristshots - actually I need to do part two of that...

Also, I just noticed another white dial Kirium on eBay last night and it had the same gap around the date window as the one I didn't end up buying... which is a bit shoddy really.

    re:

Great article and some interesting perspective on TH’s position in the market.

It is very hard for them to balance the mass market consumer appeal with the heritage/watch nerd appeal and maintain the ‘investment’ value. Especially when they have shareholders to please.

Depreciation compared to the direct competitors you cite seems to be more or less the same (slightly worse but not by a huge amount) excluding some LE variants. I think for more recent LE examples that’s simply down to over production more than the deairability or quality of an individual piece.

I can only speak from experience of Omega as that’s mainly the other brand that ‘speaks’ to me in some way besides some more exotic brands that are in reality ‘out of my legue’ and would not enable me to enjoy as many watches. I’m more or less equally invested (watch count not money burnt) in either brand. I do feel more ‘comfortable’ wearing my THa though. Less concerned about wear and tear I suppose. Lower cost to replace or mourn terms of a bad ding.

I’ve often wonderd had I waited and saved to my original grail (SS or WG Daytona) if I’d have been ‘happier’. Fact I’ve more or less lost interest in that tells me probably not.

Rolex overall I can take or leave (and as I CBA with paying over the odds for a stock item or wait/bribe my way to top of list), TH/H is much more accessible and enables easier enjoyment which fundamentally is what it is all about I guess. I rarely look at the things to tell the time anyway. Old habits of looking at the phone. :p

    Thanks for the article.

Thanks TH Junkie, glad you enjoyed it. I'd forgotten I'd written that. I try and post an article every other day and a video every other day so there's always something up every day (I've got enough videos to last me til Christmas).

Not quite a hundred yet... but getting up there. I went looking for things to try on this morning but couldn't find anything particularly interesting. Also it's true what they say about Rolex, I looked in the window at Goldsmiths and they had only one steel watch (Air King) and every single other watch was two-tone.

I enquired about a SS daytona and was told that unless I was a ‘special customer’ i had a cat in hell’s chance. Sadly it also has to be rolex spend that qualifies. And there is little else in the Rolex range that appeals. So Omega and Heuer will continue to get my hard earned. Rolex can stick it. I picked up 2 Heuers and a moonphase Speedmaster for the price of a PM Daytona so I’ll wait for the SS bubble to burst rather than play their game or pay over the odds on secondary market. Life’s too short for lengthy waiting lists! :p
