evening all, appologies if thainhas been raised before, I did search but nothing obvious came up. Has anyone else thiught that the presentation boxes that come with TH/H watches are a bit basic/bland? Seems no matter how much isnspent with the marque, the same box wraps all. I get that we pay for the watch primarily, but gaving recently bought my first non TH watch (Omega Speedmaster), I was shocked at the difference in quality and ‘wow’ factor bwtween the two brands. I know Tag have done the odd special edition with a soecial box, but the bardboard effort that comes with a £5k Monaco is not that special, when out up against the finish of the wooden one that the Omega came in. (i’m not trying to start a Tag v omega thread, only stating as that’s my only other point of reference.

I know in the grand scheme of things it is not that big a deal as after all the money should bebin the watch. But beyond a certain price point it does add more of a sense of occasion to a ourchase and new arrival. Even if it is only in the ‘honeymoon’ period.

    Thoughts?

Some of Omega's boxes are hilarious, but at the end of the day you are paying for that and a lot of people will shove it in a drawer (or a wardrobe in Omega's case) and never look at it again. I get what you're saying, but if you look back the TAG boxes we have now are better than the ones from the past... especially those rubberised things - my wife's Aquaracer box from about 14 years ago got so 'sticky' we had to chuck it away.

I have a pair old Quartz Kiriums and those came with a nifty faux-suade circular zipper case. So I agree that the new design is an improvement. Yes I was gobsmacked how elaborate some of the Omega cases were.

One advantage of the simple and standard TH box Insuppose is that it enables multiplr watches to be rotated and kept in the same bedside box without raising too much sucipsion.

SWIMBO non the wiser to the growing collection

I've seen the Connected + Tourbillon Modular box. It was awesome.

    Something like my picture attached.

Far from using noble material like wood. But i think this one is not bad.

That’s quite a special looking box! Then again the watch is well into 5 figures so you’d expect a little more than ancardboard box lol

I think its not cardboard but okay, yes probably for watch that figure the box suppose to be even better

They never let me see the V4 box though. They let me touch the watch. But not the box :D

Not that i can afford it now anyway

Can’t disagree there and whilst some of the boxes are great others not so much. My TH Carrera Calibre 6 box is clearly forgettable as can’t remember what it looks like even though only bought it several months back.

My Omega I bought in 2006 I remember the box fully and the speedmaster moonwatch box I looked at several months ago was very cool and added to the experience.

At the same time though you pay quite a bit more for the equivalent Omega of the TH model, so would expect a nicer box.

Some of the limited editions and reissues come in a nice wooden presentation box.
Often do retailers mix up the boxes and you end up with the faux-leather black, basic box.

Speaking of other brands, you should see how nice Longines' are - considering their lower price point in comparison to TH.

I agree. I bought my early Aqaracer (WAB1110) in such a box. Son got interested in watch boxes last weekend. I opened a drawer and there it was: pure glue! Finally I got it off my hands. So it will also go to the rubbish. After sunset. Don‘t need the comments of the Rolex gang in the neighbourhood...

Not sure the price differential alone can be levelled as the main factor. At least not between the two brands, for their ‘standard’ offerings. Ignoring the limited editions amd gimmick boxes.

E.g Monaco £4k to £6k watch RRP. Heritage Carerras similar money. Both came in the standard, nice but comparatively cheap box. Same box as the much cheaper options from TH as far as I am aware.

Speedmaster £6k and Planet Ocean circa £4k both came in the same, much fancier polished ‘wooden’ box.

Maybe the price point factors into the difference is in the relative street price vs RRP for each. There seems to be a lot more ‘flex’ when buying TH.

I like both brands, a lot! But I can honestly say TH is not putting any saving it makes from the box back into the watch, that’s for sure!

Agree overall that the box is very much secondary in the grand scheme of things. But IMHO TH skimp in this department.

Thought I would add that i was pleasantly surprised by the box that the grand Carrera Cal 36 came with. None of this ‘cardboard’ malarkey. Came with a rather fetching wooden box with a nicely appointed interior. Shame they don’t use this with the others. For £4,750 for a Monaco or Heuer Carrera reissue I’d think they’d use the same.

Applogies for the interweb ratheer than photo of actual said box. Not anywhere near ot atm.

Agreed. I feel as though more of their watches should come with the wooden box. My Calibre 36 Titanium initally came with a cardboard box but was upgraded to a wooden box when I enquired. I had to wait a few months though because they had run out!

The problem with those plastic boxes is the soft touch finish applied to them to give them a better feel to the touch. Here in the Middle East, due to heat and humidity, you see it all them time after a few years on everyday products like portable speakers to automotive interior switchgear.

That woden box (assuming it is the same or similar as the one that came with my Grand carrera) is rather nice! Certainly they level I would have expected from TH for their (RRP) £4k plus watches.
