As owners of the Autavia Siffert Edition have seen, TAG Heuer has introduced a new warranty card and system. The cards looks like this

In the top white box is a code and then a matching QR Code in the bottom square box.

When you buy the watch, the warranty number is paired with the watches serial number- both of which are verified as being legitimate. It records the model of the watch and the seller.

You can then go to http://tag.hr/warranty where you see this screen

Enter in your serial number and you get your own record of the warranty and when it's valid until (I've scrubbed my serial and warranty card number on the shot below)

Feels like a much better approach than the old system, as it effectively gives the watch an online "passport"- I guess that you could also use it to check out the originality of the watch (e.g. ask the seller for both the warranty card number and the serial and see if it's a match)
