Does anyone know why the original 46 was used in the movie as apposed to the new 45? Loved the film btw and believe that the connected was the perfect watch for it

Probably what was available when they filmed it.

Possibly... Just thought with how long the 45 would have been in the making they may have used a prototype of that before its release?

Just out of curiosity, how can you tell that it's a 46 as opposed to 45? Is it something in the details, or was there a press release? Sounds logical that it would be a modified first generation release or at the very least a prototype, but I would love to know how you're able to tell!

On a separate note, the leading actor must have a huge wrist! Almost every picture I've seen of either variant of the tag connected looks like they're swimming on the wearer's wrist, but on the lead actor, it looks fittingly tailored. Makes sense, considering the movie franchise.

The bezel is narrower on the 46, and the numbers are raised as opposed to embossed on the 45.

    What good times said :)

Observations were purely based on the bezel

No problem... I wore my 45 when I went to see it, had my kingsman watch face and brown leather strap on to almost match his in the film getting ready to say to the wife "ah look, I've got the same watch as Eggsy" when I noticed it was the 46... Imagine my disappointment haha

I can imagine you slowly tucking your watch back under your shirt cuff hoping nobody noticed! ::popcorn::

So I picked up a Kingsman edition Tag Modular from Mr. Porter that I'm thinking of returning. It is a nice watch, but it looks huge on me, even with the strap adjusted to the max. However, I noticed that the brown straps that come with it don't have the Kingsman embossing on it, despite all the heavy marketing videos that suggest otherwise. That alone isn't worrisome, since I thought it looked somewhat tacky with the logo, but it also strangely didn't come with a charger base. I'm confused if this is normal, or if I just received a dud?

I like Mr. Porter fine for the most part, but considering that this is the second watch they sent me (the first also didn't have embossing on the strap, but was returned for an exchange immediately as it had a badly scratched bezel), I'm wondering how trustworthy their products are. For the record, when I received the second watch, I noticed that it didn't have a protective plastic 'fork' on the crown that the first watch I received had. Makes me wonder if they just have a stock of returned watches.

Any owners care to chime in?

Another interesting point to note: I took a closer look at the Tag Connected used in the film, and the Kingsman watch being marketed as the official watch, and it looks like the diameter isn't the only difference.

If you watch the marketing campaign's videos, you'll be able to tell that the watch has a rose gold crown, and a rose gold caseback as well. I'm certain that the model they used during filming was the USD$9,900 Rose gold variant- https://www.tagheuer.com/en/watches/tag-heuer-connected-46-mm-sar8a50-ft6070

The only thing that the "official" movie tie-in release has in common with the one used in the film is the watchface, arguably the straps, and the use of rose gold for lugs. I am a little confused why they went this route. Sure, it's cheaper, but if you're already spending 4k on a watch...
