Federico Talks Watches just made a video where TAG are included in the top 5 watches people hate, along with the likes of MVMT and Invicta. It really annoys me, how dumb people are who perpetuate this 'Heuer' good, 'TAG Heuer' bad rubbish. Lest we forget (and a lot of people do forget!) Heuer discontinued the Monaco and the Carrera! It was TAG Heuer who resurrected them! ::rant: And the reason TAG bought Heuer was because the company was in huge decline, TAG did not RUIN Heuer, they bought a company that had lost it's way and turned it around and made it a huge success. Fact.

Dedicating a post to watches ‘people hate’ says enough about the level of this sort of review. I haven’t seen any of his videos but he does seem to have quite a following. A line-up of Rolex, TH and $200 mvmt watches is comical.

Very interesting. I must say, I liked the Heuer logo more on the heritage line up to now. But I am starting to feel some affinity with the old Tag Heuer logo.

I quite like Federico’s style. One of the more watchable watch you-tubers. He seems quite down to earth.

I don’t think he’s singling out TH any more than the others. He’s basically commenting on perception - rightly or wrongly. And I think he’s spot on with most of his commentary at least in terms of why people ‘hate’ on a brand.

To be frank a lot of the TH range still suffers from some of the cliche challenges introduced in the 90s. But the way i see it is that the dross in the range does not detract from the gems that i like.

There are themes that you come across in comment sections on watch reviews and forum threads that resonate with many of the points he raised. I think what he was trying to do was confront those and provide some blance as to why those themes exist and why they may be wrong or out of date views today.

It is a shame that he stuck to superficial rebuttal and didn't give his coverage the depth you did in a few paragraphs. You raised a very good point about TAG.

Fact of life - most facets of human endeviour have fanboys who staunchley protect their pet brand or favourite team and like to hate on the competition for some reason. I’ve never quite understood hating just for the sake of it. But you see it in watch brands, computer/phone brands, football, cameras i doubt it will ever stop. I’d rather work a few hours and save for a watch i like than spend the time slagging off another brand simply because i don’t happen to like them. I guess most people like to validate their own choices in some way shape or form.

The old Tag in Tag Heuer is still the logo of TAG Aviation and other subsidiaries in the group. It's been around in aviation and motorsport engineering for decades, before the Heuer take-over. Supplying the championship winning Porsche engine to McLaren in '84. Prost won two of his WC with Tag engines. TAG still has a stake in McLaren.
Tag Heuer under TAG made a lot more sense with respect to Heuer's heritage than Tag Heuer under LVMH.

I’ve not been a watch nerd for that long so only able to comment on the past 9 months. On the whole I have not noticed that much tbh. But there seems to be a lot of reference to ‘historic hating’ and I have noticed when looking at older forum posts from years ago that it seems to hve been more prevalent in the past.

I saw one post that commented that these days there was probably more talking about ‘hate’ than actual hating going on.

I’d also wager it was probably more prevelant in the US than UK or mainland EU.

Questionable quality in the 90s and the 'fall from grace' - again while totally ignoring the fact that the tail end Heuers were not Carreras and Monacos. Just watches another video called 'Why TAG Heuer are Perceived as Garbage by the Watch Community' and the same rubbish is spouted. TAG did not take over Heuer and abandon the heritage pieces in favour of Kiriums and S/ELs... there were no heritage pieces left in the range. These people are idiots. I mean I love my 3000 series, but THAT is what Heuer were making in 1984.
