The Autavia Isograph recall has hit the internet watch folks. John P from Delray Watches has a You Tube Video titled “Tag Heuer BIG Recall?!!” From yesterday which really was no news, just him going over what he heard and his interpretations of the situations. However, Scottish Watches podcast from 10/28 talks about it a bit. They claim to have spoken from and insider at Tag who worked with the line and they say the problem was the carbon hairspring was physically failing secondary to adhesive used placing it into the caliber 5 movement and they were getting too many failed movements back from COSC. So the watches out there may be fine for now as they passed but too many were failing so they stopped the line.

Now this is out there being talked about I wonder if any more info will hit the web.

It’s a good observation about the Isograph missing now from the dial. Does that mean the people who bought them early have a very rare model?

It could well do but, because the watch was pulled, potential buyers of a second hand model may be wary if its reliability so, in this case, rarity may not equal big prices.

I may be biased because I have 2 of these, but I think they have a lot of potential for big prices. We know there was a ton of interest in this watch. We know very few made it out in the wild. Demand definitely exceeds supply at this point since not many people had a chance to get one. This technology could still become a game changer for watchmaking or Tag Heuer. Rarity, demand, and historical significance could make this a collector's piece.

Personally I don’t couple rarity with big values always, and in this case I assume there would be a premium, but ultimately it’s the cool factor in this instance for me.

I also think pretty much all publicity is good publicity. Even with this issue being like a scandal, the media attention creates buzz around the Autavia and mindshare in collectors. For better or worse, the watch community will remember the Autavia Isograph. People instinctively want what they can't have. I doubt there would be the same demand for stainless Rolexes if you could walk into any AD and pickup the one you wanted. Tag Heuer took away a product with high demand. I think that will cause even higher demand.

From my perspective, this is entirely consistent with the information from the two Guys- i.e. problems with scaling from small-volume production to large-scale. It's a real shame, but hopefully it's a short delay (which in the watch world probably means 12 months)

Without putting the link to avoid advertising idiot retailers, I’ve noticed today the Isograph Flybacks are now all available for preorder sale.

The new Autavia 3 handers are available online now on the TH homepage, including the bronze editions. Without the Isograph hairspring but somwewhat less expensive and chronometer certified. Still good value for money I guess.

So if price for steel version on bracelet is 3050 Euro, one should probably be able to pick it up for approx 2500 on that sweet grey market. In other words, the price is OK I would say

But then who knows, the Chinese are probably going nuts producing fakes of these ones as well so maybe better to pay retail to avoid that shit...

You're probably better off buying the Chinese one, it'll be more accurate and reliable.

Was googling around and saw this. Looks like a short 2020 clip for the Autavia.

    Hah! :D

But the Autavia sellitas will be chronometre certified  dont know if reliability will be better though, I guess they use higher spec sellitas to get the chronometre versions

I just dont get it why the price is higher than Aquaracer line. At least from the website.

The Chronograph Autavia with in house movement and rotating bezel seems to offer much better value than the three hander one, IMHO.
