No doubt, that's what has been holding me back.
Splash or swim?
Guys! Battery issue sorted!
(Just for fun, not meant to criticize any side in your discussion.)
Last charge did 28 hrs, normal usage with notifications and the odd use of apps for weather etc. So definitely improving.
Good to hear!
Can you please give details on how you got to 28h ?
Battery cycles? ADB on ? Normal use or you just leave it home near phone and wifi?
I am still struggling with about 18h max on wrist with no special use
I reset the watch just before the last update, so this will have been third cycle. Charges up to 97% then I run it all the way down to empty and repeat. I have not got ADB on, but wifi etc is on to auto. Normal use, so it stays on my wrist wherever I go. I take it off when sleeping, so 7 or so hours off this it is left on shelf but switched on. Use for appointments, checking email notification, the odd little bit of gaming, google fit for step count etc. Not really using anything heavy like gps at moment, but it is switched on. I have also turned off NFC as don't use for payments.
Battery length update: I've just got 30.5 hours from fully charged (97% issue included) to shut off.
Worn all the time, including sleep, screen always on, all connectivity on, normal notification and app use. Only variation is during sleep I switched to screen off mode (7hours).
A thought has occurred - as I'm running iOS I maybe acheiving more than equivalent Android as fewer apps are compatible and linked; maps, contacts, texts etc, therefore my normal use will not be directly compatible with an Android user.
Asw, can you give details, pleas?
I´m iOS user with the apps: runkeeper, google play and nothing more.
Today I have just only 11 hours with wifi , nfc, and gps disabled.
I'm running the watch with basically all factory set ups. Wifi, BT, NFC, GPS all on. Screen is set to 3 constant brightness rather than auto. I am running 2 screen interactive watch face in black - battery in one screen, steps in the other (as a side note steps is not particularly accurate - I managed to walk 180 steps in my sleep apparently!)
The biggest difference for my time I think is that although all the connectivity is on I am not using it as very little actually works apps wise with it. What I don't understand is that 2.0 is meant to be stand alone yet with iOS is still restricted even when downloading the apps directly. I.e. The issue I posted previously with maps being useless.
Glad I found this Forum! I just switched on ADB debugging, anxious to give this a try with respect to improving batt life. Question for you all, I am routinely switching off WiFi to improve batt life, but since GPS is a known drain, is there any way to shut it off from the watch or in the Wear App? Is shutting off location all that is necessary to shut off GPS?
Update day 2 with new build
Today is my second cycle from full charge (97%) to 0. Yesterday I got almost 36 hours with airplane and theater mode overnight.
Today I installed the Pujie Black watch face app again and used that watch face all day. I'm back to 12 hours so Pujie is definitely a battery drain, not sure if its my ambient "always-on" dial is to bright or the app updates on the background to much
I'm going to try same dial face with adb on tomorrow and see if its any different, but it sounds like I better stick to the default watch faces
I also have a Huawei watch that I used Pujie on all the time and it did not drain the battery this much, I'm wondering if the Intel CPU in the Modular 45 is more demanding on battery when running apps than the Qualcomm Snapdragon, its certainly a more capable chip but it could also be less efficient?
Interested in hearing what switching on ADB will do for you.
First post in the forums, hi all. "Delivery" of my 45 is pending as a birthday gift a couple of short weeks away, so until then my wife is holding it hostage . I'm looking forward to unboxing it and using the great info available here to get up and running. I'll post reactions and experiences when I get there. I probably should've waited to post this until I was actually there... just a tad anxious, I suppose. Thanks for the resources and keep up the great posts!
Congratulations and welcome; be sure to post back once the big day arrives.
That's why on one of the earlier posts I said that comparing the different processors in terms of energy consumption was not really fair.
For benchmarking and battery calibration you should probably stick to the "factory faces". Once you know how much it lasts, then you can evaluate how 3rd party faces perform.
Hey can anyone tell me how is the watch in the sun? I watched a few reviews about it and it says that it's very hard to tell the time in the sun. What are your thoughts? Thanks
Not according to this guy;
