No watch is perfect. I've mentioned before that while I'm not overly averse to it, I would prefer non-patina'ed lume on my "vintage" style watches.

One other thing I'd change about the Ice King... slightly thinner. But again, it's no deal breaker.

This discussion is going way out of order. Calm down people! Come to your senses.

Oh I agree about the lume 100%. Just I thought you guys all thought it was perfect. Well, nearly as perfect as the black Bay...

I've got an analogy for you. Imagine Kristina Pimenova is standing naked in front of you. Are you going to be that worried about the colour of her nail varnish?

Good analogy, although, when I performed a Google image search (I don't know who she is), way too many photos of her as a child came up! Just saying.

In fact, tritium lume always had a yellowish color - in period advertisements for watches like the Speedmaster for instance (which has large, very visible lume plots) the lume is yellowish, not white. White lume was most likely a function of switching to luminova.

Me personally, I prefer the previous version of the Seamaster 300 MC - the closed numerals just work better to my eye. The new ones look a bit Panerai to me. But I do really like that matte aluminum bezel on the new one - the ceramic bezel (one of the first) on the earlier model had a sheen to it that didn't quite work as well with the rest of the 'vintage' looks.

Still miss my 1957 Trilogy one terribly... if anyone ever comes across LE # 1181 please get in touch ASAP!

I'll be honest, I didn't know who she was either - just picked the name at random of a famous supermodel that Google gave me. I think she's of age now, but seems she might be a bit young to use comfortably in this analogy! ::shy::

I'd be more worried that the police are gonna kick the door down and I'd be on my way to prison given that she's 15 YEARS OLD!

Is it too late to substitute the name of an older supermodel?

Not being that familiar with "the scene", I genuinely just picked a name I googled at random in a few seconds. Most of the famous women I used to fancy are closer to drawing their pensions these days.

Perhaps someone else can suggest a more suitable example for my analogy?

I would make a suggestion but they'd all be filthy pornstars...

Still better than a 15 year old though. :whipped:

The black dial is nice, but if you're still getting the OG BB58 don't you think the look is redundant? Agree that the Omega would be better in 39mm size, another plus for the BB58. Having said that, the 300 didn't feel overly huge when I tried it on.

I think there are so very few similarities between the two, I could see both on my collection. But was regretting now not trying one on, what if its even better than the 58 and I shoulda bought the 300 instead!

Personally, I think you made the right choice.
