Well you could read the article or I'll just tell you... blah, blah NASA, blah, blah, SAFETY, blah, blah, FIRST MAN ON THE MOON, blah, blah, APOLLO 13, blah, blah, OMEGA, blah, blah, GO FOR THE BURN.... OMEGA SAVED THE WORLD.

Sorry Snoopy, that was something to do with NASA's safety awards or something...:p

I do like Omega but for some reason have never held on to them. I loved my Aqua Terra but that got switched for the better-wearing, more comfortable Rolex Explorer. And I've owned a few Speedmasters, which again, I do really like, but keep returning to Heuer chronographs :)

Some previous flings I've had over the last few years:

The demand and increase in price on that piece has been insane. I think it has be one its own Rolex type ‘bubble’. I saw one at a dealer in AMS about 18 months ago for circa 12k euros - which was already over double the list price at launch. Not ‘trading’ at double to triple that again at circa 30k!!!

no way is it ‘worth’ that. But people with the means are willing to pay and so it goes on.

i think Omega will make a LOT more of the next one due out. I think the announcement is due today.

I went into the Omega boutique in London once and the people were so nice, I really wanted to like the watches but I just found most of them either dull or spectacularly ugly. I will concede my Wife's Omega Constellation is very nice though...

I have lost count of the number of times that I have tried on an Aqua Terra and it just doesn't do anything for me.

Speedmasters are just so unimaginative and boring... zzzzzzz..... oh sorry, I dropped off for a moment then.

    Yep!

If you were to ask me, I think Omega has a really poor selection of ladies watches. They're all designed and marketed as jewellery.

For me Omega is to the watch industry what Volvo is in the car industry. Plain and boring, reliable and sometimes innovatine but you feel nothing when you see one

Not a bad analogy. It is certainly a safe choice.

The safest “choice” in the world :D (insert “car” in choice) I remember Volvo had a tag line / marketing ad something like that before ;)

Mysteriously an email arrives from Beaverbrooks promoting Omega. Big Brother is truly watching!

So what do we think then? Have to say I do like it, but it's a firm no at the price. I'm sure they'll all sell, though.

About £8250 I think or thereabouts. And it's not limited edition either apparently.

It's nice, but it is similar fayre to what we've seen before.

Doube the price of the standard Moonwatch.

It does have a ceramic bezel and moving parts on the caseback.
