Louis Vitton Tambour Curve Flying Tourbillon..... pretty special!
Keep seeing Breitling's in this thread so looked at a few models and seriously can't believe how similar the Navitimer B01 Chronograph 43 is to the Tag Heuer Pilot I have my eye on at the moment..
I personally would never buy a Breitling especially not over a Tag but this is shocking..! I realise there are a lot of similar models from different manufacturers, but wow!
and we know why LV now has tourbillon
We all know LVMH watch division has three tier watch brands.
Entry Avant Garde tier - TAG Heuer
Mid tier - Zenith
High Luxury tier - Hublot
In terms of quality and workmanship (irregardless of the price and marketing) are there any differences among the three?
They have different watch making factories. But are the quality checks the same?
Need to give credit to Breitling on this one. The Navitimer was first introduced in 1952, while the Heuer Pilot came out in 1983.
If you think the Pilot is similar, this Sinn is even more of a copy cat to the Breitling Navitimer.
Hahahaha. This visual metaphor still cracks me up.
Yes but the story around Breitling and the 903 is kind of cool though. Not really a copy cat as in someone who just stole a design.
Yup, that Helmut Sinn was one shrewd guy. Not only did he finagle the Heuer Bundeswehr deal, he similarly attained the rights from Breitling for the Navitimer's design. Striking these deals when Heuer and Breitling were at their weakest during the Quartz Crisis era. I'm sure it must bug the heck out of both Breitling and TAG Heuer that Sinn has legitimate rights to produce watches so similar to their iconic designs.
At the risk of having @Jim Dollares shed even more tears, I have to say I really like Breitling's latest release! The Top Time LE, re-issued for a new generation of retro fans. How can a watch that Connery wore as 007 in Thunderball (albeit this one has the Zorro dial face) not be cool?!
Yeah that one looks amazing, but dont tell anyone I said that
Agreed, although 41mm would take it a bit far outside my sweet spot of 38-39mm. Still, it doesn't look too chunky and lugs don't look mega-long.
... but they are. 51mm L2L.
Oh, that isn't good then. Didn't look it from the photo.
Not sure what you mean. Official site says it's 41mm in diameter and 20mm lug width.
Price is reasonable too, because it uses the Valjoux 7753 rather than Breitling's in house movement.
EDIT: I get it now, the length is 51mm, so that is longer than I'd prefer. The height is a bit chunky too. I certainly would want to try this on the wrist before buying. This article has a bunch of wrist shots: https://www.fratellowatches.com/new-release-breitling-top-time-returns/
So much yes. Can’t believe I like a 2nd Breitling.
Over to Jim
I will not get into it. Good night.
This one's a winner, right?
OMG, it looks like a packet of Smarties.
