Don't really have an answer to this, but I just thought I'd mention that Bicester Village and Cheshire Oaks currently have the white and grey dial solid rose gold case Carrera 1887's in stock, reduced from £15,000 to £10,000.

I saw them when I picked up my Grand carrera. Tempting but head overruled heart on this occasion.

Agreed. That is the pick of the two models.

Oddly of the two i was more tempted by the white dial. Overall i felt it was ‘classier’ and whilst the Anthracite/Rose gold combination is stunning. It is far more contemparaty looking and I felt over time it would date more than the more traditional combo of white and gold (rose gold itself is somewhat of a more recent craze too I think). It really did look great, standing there in a dedicated glass display case. Of the range I think the steel and yello gold was the pick if a touch of PM was important.

Ultimately it was not the price itself put me off. Good level of discount compared to rrp, and the model itself is not as easy to get as some of the other clearance stock items and I was not diacussing with them at the £10k mark either.

Where the head over ruled the heart was paying near £10k for a 6 year old model that likely had been standing in stock for close to 5 years and only had a 2 year waranty. Spending that much on a watch i’d want a Rolex or Omega 5 year warranty.

In general terms PM watches are the easiest ‘newer/recent’ to get heavy discounts on. And with 30% off a brand new model in a PM closer to 40% a recent but still in >2 year warranty watch readily available it was not as easy to let the heart rule the snap decision to buy on a whim just because it was there.

I wonder if we’ll ever see the 02T appear at the outlet. That one might be harder to resist. :D

The 1887 is certainly a beautiful looking watch in those configurations. I’d say if you’re keen - go in and negotiate hard. I doubt that they are the only ‘pair’ in the shop
