Seeing that in our “Garage” there still did not exist a thread dedicated to the brand that invented the automobile in 1886, I think that today September 24 (Our Lady of Mercy/Mercedes day), is a good day to create it ;). Both to talk about our cars, as well as news from the brand

    OK, I'll play.
My well loved W210 E55 AMG, which I owned from 2001 until 2011. Gone, but never forgotten. :)

Great car, and great engine! ::love::

That same V8 5500cc engine is under the hood of my current C 55 AMG (W 202), so being 30cm shorter and 100 kg lighter than your former E 55 AMG, you can imagine how fast and fun is the C 55 ;)

    1FD1241A-D557-4AB3-94E9-4FC26F049ACF.jpeg

The C 55 AMG was not from the standard Mercedes-Benz range. The “normal” AMG V8 C-Class W 202 was the C 43 (4300cc), and the C 55 was made only by order directly to AMG. It was from the “AMG Specials” range, and only 59 were made (7 of them in station wagon version, and two of them being the F1 Medical Car)
    CB50179C-FB23-4FB7-812D-C5637C08BA7F.jpeg

Converting the C 43 to C 55 was done by hand in Affalterbach, and it was a really expensive caprice, so we can understand why there are only 59 in the world :D

A quick way to see if it’s a genuine C 55 is the speedometer scale: 300 km/h on the C 55, and 280 km/h on the C 43... mine was requested without speed limit ;)

With more than 20 years and more than 200,000 kms driven, after last service, it works and feels like the first day ::love::... there’s nothing like a Mercedes-Benz V8: solid, reliable, and durable

During last service I changed all fluids and filters, and -for the first time!- shock absorbers, springs, and silent blocks, so it’s now like in a second youth ;)

When taking out the wheels, which were restored, I was pleased to find that AMG detail :)

I like that it’s so discreet on the outside, and that it has such a wild engine underneath: with 347HP and mostly 510 Nm (between 2000 to 4650rpm), the throttle response is fantastic! ::love::

A 21 years old “wolf in sheep's clothing”, which is faster than a younger BMW M3 E46, or even than a current AMG C 43... it was checked! :D

I think I almost bought one of these around 2004, from a trader pal, nice car but when he mentioned he was averaging 8mpg I turned and ran away- did the same when I looked at an Aston- wouldn’t have fitted in the garage anyway.:whistling:

Never owned a Merc, my dad did though, he had one of those enormous biege estate cars from the 90s. He liked it, except when the backseats got stuck half way down and seemingly no-one could fix it. I don't know what happened in the end and I can't ask him as he's no longer about. Oh and his business partner borrowed it once to go on holiday and he blew the engine up...

I also used to own this beast, ML55 AMG.
    20200928_092154.jpg 20200928_092108.jpg

But I found that this SUV on steroids didn't suit me that well. So I switched to the E55 AMG, which was a great car and ultra reliable. Not a single issue during my 10 years of ownership, solid as a rock!

Albert, I've said it before and say it again, your car is so damn cool and to own one of so few made and in such great condition!

Michael, two bad ass Mercs you used to own, the AMG version of ML is crazy :D

I will upload some photos of my current ride soon, it is the first Mercedes-Benz I have ever had. Quite the opposite ti what you guys posted, mine is pure comfort and no sport

    Thanks @Jim Dollares ! :)

Yes, I’m very happy with my C 55, and -like all the AMGs I have driven- I love its double personality: it can switch from Dr. Jekyll to Mr. Hyde just depending on how you press the gas pedal. It could be really comfortable and suitable for a long trip with all the family... and at the same time, it could be really fast and wild when you want. And it’s very good in both roles, which is the difficult thing, and in what they are magicians in AMG

BTW, what a coincidence that my C-Class has the same 5.5 V8 engine as the two AMGs that @Mspeedster had!

Jim, and your Plug-in Hybrid E-Class is very comfortable and great for long highway trips, but it’s also very powerful when you select the Sport mode and both engines are working together ;) I have driven one like yours, and there’s a lot of torque!

    Great MB collection! :)
129 and 126 are fantastic cars, and also the 108 you are restoring. And the E 60 AMG (W 124) is also very exclusive, based on the E 500, so it’s Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, and AMG together in the same car  Congrats!!

Nice pair , although 203 is not the best of the C-Class generations. I think 202 and current 205 are better than 203 and 204, while the 206 coming in 2021 looks really promising. Maybe it could be your option to go back to Stuttgart ;)

Maybe. I'll probably be looking at BMW or Merc again once the Jag XF has gone in a year or so. I love the Jag, but for some reason the lease price has skyrocketed, whereas the BMW 3 series seems to be cheaper than ever. I guess we'll see where things are in a year or so.

The lease price depends a lot on the devaluation of the car in 4 years. As the Mercedes are devalued less than the Jaguars, that is why the lease price is more interesting, even if it's a higher priced model

Located some photos taken with my phone...

Like I said, this is my first ever Mercedes-Benz and what I love most about it are

    - The wooden steering wheel and the polished walnut interior in combination with the brown interior
    - The comfort, jeees it cant be stated enough how good this car is on long drives. You can do 180 on the highway while relaxing in a quiet and super comfortable car

Last but not least, a close up of the dashboard clock, this is a watch forum after all right? :D

Beautiful cars @elbeik I really like the 1994 SL you have, been toying with the idea of getting a SL500 as a summer ride for a couple of years now, who knows maybe one day
