you may have seen that a few hours ago, LVMH announced that Zenith CEO Aldo Magada had resigned, with Biver taking over as interim CEO.

I asked him if this would change any of his role at TAG Heuer- the answer is not at all...business as usual.

interesting, was the reshuffling due to poor sales or unmet projections?

Wonder how this will change Zenith and the reasons behind this change.

Regardless, what a career; JCB keeps cementing his legacy as one of the most influential people in modern watchmaking.

Really interesting interview with JC Biver on TAG Heuer, Zenith, and the watch industry.

    http://en.worldtempus.com/article/i...president-lvmh-group-watches-division-2457686

    Regarding TAG Heuer:

I also note that TAG Heuer will have had what is probably the best year of its history.

    From 2017
onwards, around 50 people
 will begin assembling micro-
processors in-house. This
 will be Switzerland’s first
ever microprocessor assembly
line, located in a white room in
TAG Heuer premises in La Chaux-
de-Fonds, where ten or so engineers
will be responsible for R&D projects
on connected objects. On the mechanical watch front, TAG Heuer is planning
to overturn 400 years of watchmaking history by delivering a fundamental innovation, notably stemming from the field of metallurgy. This essential technological breakthrough will be a new milestone that will go down in the history books.

    Regarding Zenith:

Meanwhile, Zenith has followed the overall industry trend for an obvious reason: the brand is suffering from the same weaknesses as watchmaking in general relating to its excessive dependence on China.

For Zenith, the year will bring the real launch of its partnership with Range Rover, as well as the association with Kevin Spacey who will become the brand ambassador.

I found that last bit quite interesting. Kevin Spacey is well-known IWC fan.

Thanks for sharing. Exciting times ahead. Kevin Spacey is a fantastic choice for Zenith. Well done JCB.

I'll say it again; the recent limited editions from Zenith, Cohiba, classic cars, Land Rover and Hodinkee are all gorgeous.
These put Zenith on my wish-list, in high ranking.

    Now, we need funds :whistling:

I've always really liked Zenith...but somehow they've never made it to the top of the pile when it's come time to choose a watch. I feel like they are many people's second or third favourite brand, but when the time comes to buy only one watch...

The synergies do make sense. Why would TAG Heuer, Zenith and Hublot each make their own cases/ bracelets? Even Richemont uses ValFleurier to make a lot of common parts for the various brands...would make sense for LVMH to do this.

I think there are exciting times ahead. To be completely honest, I think this move will bring Zenith back into the forefront and will lead many people towards actually buying a Zenith watch, instead of having it on their wishlists.
