Hi all. Been reading in here for a while and I know there's nobody more knowledgeable than you lot, so some advice would be appreciated.

After trying on a few watches in the Tag store I narrowed down two. The Heuer 01 43mm and the Calibre 1887. I preferred the 01 narrowly.

However, found an authorised dealer with a black faced. 1887 in stock with £760 off so now £3,040. Is this a must get? I know the 1887 is being phased out again but from what I can tell it's nothing to do with the quality of the watch more the movement being reserved the 01's.

    Thoughts anyone?

    Ta.

Nothing wrong with the 1887. But it sounds to me like if you get the 1887, then you'll harbour feelings for the 01. Regardless of special deals, always best to go for what you want, otherwise it'll end up costing you more in the long run.

When I say it was a close one it was very very close. Kept looking back n forth with a "don't know what to do" look on my face. I'm going for this. Couldn't locate the 01 anthracite face anywhere anyway. Was only available online with no way to see it first. Cheers guys.

Both are good tag heuer watch. I happen to own 2 chronograph heuer 01 (43mm&45mm) but i still wishing i have elbeik's calibre 1887 sometimes. And i am also thinking about heuer carrera telemeter now. Wishing that it will sit long enough in the boutique that they'll offer me special discount.

You'll most unlikely will own just one carrera. You'll own more than one. It's so addictive ! Beware !

For versatility sake, i am gonna suggest to get calibre 1887 first. But that just my 2 cents.

    Cheers

Cheers pal. If you are after an 1887 for less, it's Laings Jewellers that have them in the sale.

If you want a classic Carrera shape, go with the 1887.
For something more modern and contemporary, the H01.

It all depends on the style you want.

Don't worry about prices, there will always be opportunities.

Oh, and, the grey dial of any Tag Heuer is magnificent.

My very first Swiss watch / Tag Heuer has arrived. Very happy. I prefer the cleaner dial than the day/date hence choosing this model.
One question though. Even though it's from an AD th guarantee card is blank but they sent another card. See photo. Is this right or should I get in touch and get a guarantee card completed?

    They both came with it.

Going into Tag store Monday to fit the bracelet. Will ask them what's the deal. It's from a dealer listed on their website so I doubt I'm going to have an issue. Maybe the Q coded one is the correct one.

The one with the Q (3D) barcode is the new style; the one with many fields is the old format. Since you are going back, take them both and let us know what they do. Ultimately, to exercise the warranty TAG Heuer will ask you for the warranty card, or the paper receipt to verify that you purchased it from an Authorized Dealer.

If you take it to the Authorized Dealer where the watch was purchased from, they can pull up the records and do the entire process for you. I am assuming this is how you did it?

No actually I aciquired the watch from an auction house then took it to an AD and had the battery replaced and pressure test done when in found the bezzel was defective one of the springs were gone so they replaced the whole thing case and all N/C .....now I buy all my watches from this place. Great customer service

Sorry for hijacking just thought I'd throw in my two cents ...

I had a similar experience. Last year I bought a Siffert re-edition from a collector who had never removed the tags. Since the watch had been sitting for years, I took it to my nearest authorized dealer so that it could be sent to TAG Heuer to replace the seals and undergo service.

Now, I don't know if this was done as a courtesy to/from my Dealer, but TAG Heuer did the full service free of charge. As you can imagine, I was very appreciative and very pleasantly surprised.

So far, I've had a great customer service experience with TAG Heuer in the US on every service done to my watches. Knock on wood, I hope this trend will continue. :)
