Caught up with a friend for lunch on Friday who has the "40th" Anniversary Carrera LE from 2004 (below left). It's a great watch, and at 39mm much closer to the original Carrera size. I did have this one for a while, but at some point sold it.

The other watch below right is my 2014 Carrera LE. Same design idea, same movement (although in the newer model it's COSC), but bigger at 41mm.

So, which do you prefer? I'm going to take the easy/ weak approach and sit on the fence by saying that I prefer the 2014 model, but in the 39mm size of the 2004.

I agree. I also don't like the large
diameters. My arm simply does not fit
to them, so it is not the fault of the watch
itself. I'm sure, in some time the smaller
    diameters will return.

    The 2014, cleaner dial.

The one on the right, no question. However, the better comparison would be with a similar color theme, like Jack's 80th. tag-heuer-carrera-calibre-17-jack-heuer-edition-80.jpg

I'm torn. Both stunning but I've been used to the larger diameters of late so the 2014 just edges it for me.

While I like the size of the older watch, the execution of the newer watch is much better.
I'm not a fan of how they did the crystal on the old ones.

The larger tachy scale font is also better looking, as is the pusher design and chunkier crown; more purposeful.

I have the earlier version and prefer it's smaller understated elegance. They're both nice watches so it's a close call
