Spotted a Carrera SLR 300 for sale and couldn't resist. Had to be one of the cheapest I've seen for sale for a long time, so it my raided my wallet.

Fully expect Mrs JiaB to be more than a little upset when she see's it, especially after being asked to stop buying more "clown watches" (see my Monaco Madness post)
Clown watches are how she describes my Monaco's, this isn't a Monaco, so I should be safe?! We'll see...

Back to the watch; I love it and the way light plays off the dial. If there is one tiny thing that niggles it's the thickness of bezel. I already have one of the earliest Carrera 1887 chrono's and it appears to be all-dial when being worn, this thicker bezel on the SLR reduces that illusion which is a shame IMO, but not the end of the world.

The watch was serviced by Swiss Time Services last year and still has their warranty until June next year which is a nice bonus.

There is something nice and tactile when operating the chrono functions...crisp and easy.

The OE strap is in great condition too, whether it's been replaced in the past or not I don't know, but I've just fitted the same style strap but with orange stitching which compliments the few orange highlights on the dial. Also has curved lug ends which reduces the gap between strap and watch head.
Can't recommend watchstrapworld.com highly enough, excellent quality at a sensible price.

    A few pictures

Well done, a very very nice and cool looking piece, congrats!

You forgot to show us the most important part, obviously the caseback

Ah, the caseback Jim...it's a decent finishing touch, but the Ltd Edition number is difficult to read and looks as though it's been done with a cheap hand held engraver, almost scratched on. Would've been much nicer properly engraved on the periphery of caseback in a much more legible fashion.

If it had been my only 1887 watch I would've possibly preferred a display back. The 1887 movement is a pretty thing...picture posted for comparison.

Very nice, I actually like the thicker bezel. Visually it seems to me make it a bit more proportionate. Well done!

Really like these. On my first visit to TAG Heuer, I remember seeing one of these being assembled- it hadn't been announced yet and had such an attractive dial, that I snuck back with a different lense to try and grab a photo from a distance! Very similar to the Smoke-coloured Silverstone from the 1970s...beautiful.

It's not only the dial colour that makes this special- the first Heuer branded TAG Heuer in almost a decade, plus a couple of design touches from the 1970s (square bottom hand and the rifle-scope register).

    A modern classic

Welcome to the 300SLR club. It has a stunning dial and strap.

The 300 SLR was the launch watch for the Calibre 1887 and is therefore a first execution case and dial for the modern Carrera. The CAR2110 that you have is, I think, a third execution case and dial.
