My WAY208C is giving me cause for concern. When I unscrew the crown it should automatically be in the correct position to wind the watch, but it seems to not want to turn. So I pull it out a little and then it wants to the turn the date wheel... then when I want to turn the date wheel it seems to slip positions while I am doing it. I am not impressed. While the watch is functioning fine, this is bugging the hell out of me. I am visiting a boutique tomorrow so I shall ask them to look at it.

Does it feel like it's turning the rotor when you try and wind it?

Let it stop, then see if manually winding it makes it start going, if not then send it back to tag, the warranty process is easy but slow and they will fit a new movement.

Hmmm that sucks and another worrying sign of the Calibre 5 issues we have talked about so many times

I'm very seriously considering flipping my calibre 5 AR, tag put a new movement in under warranty, but Im just not as in-love with it as I was before it broke.

It's more like the crown doesn't want to find it's spot. There should be three distinct spots; wind / date / hands, but when I unscrew it it doesn't want to turn to wind, then if I pull it out a little bit it starts turning the date even though it's not in quite the right place... which is a pain because I didn't realise I was turning the date and it was 10pm! The full out hands setting is fine... and if I push it back towards the crown then it will wind, but it's obviously faulty. It's strange because when I got it it felt very positive, and I can't have actually used it more than about 7-8 times. I didn't take it today because I am going to Bicester in a couple of day and I know the people there better than Cheshire Oaks.

Damn thing feels perfectly fine now, I guess I'll have to wait and see if it does it again, still got 18mths of warranty...

Hard to remove that thought from the brain every time you wind it

Tell me about it. But what can I do... it's like if you have a problem with your car, if you can't make it squeak when you take it to the garage how can they fix it?

The 2824 movement is solid and easily serviceable. I would avoid TAG unless you want to wait for it and deal with the hassle. Any reputable watch maker can do a 2824 service.

I guess if you are under warranty that is a different story though

Man, you guys giving me the creep again after i put past my calibre 5 ceramic bezel before ! (It was just super inaccurate, nothing like what happened to @Aquagraph)

I was ready to try again calibre 5 with the "Emerald" now and waiting for it to arrive in my country next year (or so the staff said).

Now you guys get me seriously wondering...

How accurate is your Calibre 5, @Aquagraph ?

    Solid == cheap and fragile?

When TAG serviced mine, they put a whole new movement in, I've got the old one in a box here. I've thought about fitting a cosc or quartz movement when it fails next.

No idea Otto, I never wear my automatic watches for more than a day at a time, but when I first got it I checked it and it was fine.

I had slight issues with the crown/winder on one of mine not feeling right? AD greased the seal on the winder shaft and that improved it, the shaft must have been dragging on the seal, only took him minutes, did it while I waited. Worth asking?

This takes away my whole fascination of having a mechanical, for ever lasting, serviceable movement. In-house and more expensive movements makes no sense sometimes but at least they are not handled as cheap China crap that you just replace when there are issues with it.

To be honest with you, and I've said this before, if they made my Aquaracer in quartz that looked exactly the same, I'd have bought that. All this 'Connected to Eternity' nonsense doesn't really wash with me. I'll be dead in 30-40 years, I couldn't care less if it works after that.

    Apologies to Mr Biver.... obviously.

Yeah, but then they have to justify that £500 price difference somehow..... *cough*;)
