I'm already having thoughts about whether I could fit the dial and handset from the "Heritage" chrono into the new one's case. Mushroom pushers still mess it up though

We might be twins. I’ve been thinking the same thing.

Ieven slimmed down the lugs of the current model in photoshop for fun.

We don’t know if the chronograph will have the same slim case. I doubt it to be honest.

No, but the lugs and bezel look a lot nicer than the Heritage model's

Same here... I’m testing the Connected version (also with quick release system for the straps and bracelets ;)) and I’m loving this face! ::love::

The videos show the scale of the watch a lot better, thanks for posting. They look much larger than what I’d imagined (which I prefer!) so will be really keen to try one on when they’re available.

The case and lugs are actually the same as on the heritage model I think. The brushing is the only difference. What makes the heritage case thicker is the ring on which the case back is screwed. I think that's the only new case tooling on the new Autavia, besides the new logo in lieu of window on the case back. Photo of mine to illustrate:

I reckon you're right. Scaled a pic from Fratello and another from the web down in Photoshop. Tried to get them as close as possible based on the crown size. Looks like the caseback (and perhaps new bezel) are what flattens it down a bit in the 3-hander. Guess we'll find out in the fall re: chrono. Since chrono movements are thicker, perhaps no gain there.

Thanks for the analysis - i thought the case was largely the same too.

In general there is lots of comment about the autavia thickness, but hasnt been an issue for me at all on the wrist

I'm only 5' 7" and it drives me batshit when I try it on in the store. I love the look, but it feels like a chunk of metal is sitting on my wrist -- and not like the watch has become part of my wrist.

You might find the new series work better for you then - I suspect its the depth of the caseback that contributes to that rather than the overall watch thickness.

I had that issue with my Siffert, before it was "lost" during shipping. Putting it on a NATO with curved springbars helps a bit, but only a little. Very poorly designed lugs, ironic since that was a Heuer forte....

Just wondering, did that ever get sorted out satisfactorily?

Nope! It continues. While most luxury organizations tend to prefer to make the customer whole / happy and then sort out whose fault it was, it seems TAG don't care much
